Be a full-time entering freshman who has declared a major within the Department of English at Mississippi State University with demonstrated financial need. Candidates must have demonstrated an excellent record of high school academic achievement, including a minimum GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale).

- Please submit an essay of approximately 500 words that demonstrates your engagement with your major by describing in detail your work in one or more of your English courses. Your essay may address multiple elements of your work (such as reading, analysis, writing, research), or it may focus on whichever element you have found most stimulating and rewarding. Essays must consist entirely of original work produced by the applicant, claiming nothing as that applicant's original work that has been all or partially generated by AI or copied from the internet, another student, a print resource, or any other source.
