Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Scholarship
The goal of the Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program is to attract top-performing students who want to become mathematics, English, science, special education or elementary teachers in Mississippi. All applicants must have excellent leadership and service activities and a passion for teaching. To be considered as a competitive candidate, entering freshmen need a minimum 3.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and 28 ACT score. Community college transfer students need a minimum 3.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and a 28 ACT score. Applications will be reviewed, and candidates will be selected for an interview. Applicants need to be aware that this scholarship requires a five year commitment to teaching in a public school anywhere in Mississippi. If this commitment is unfulfilled, the scholarship awarded becomes a loan.
