Supplemental Questions
  1. Luckyday Scholars Program Application Questions
    • The founder of the Luckyday Foundation, Frank Day, established his foundation knowing that he would not have the opportunity to know the students who would eventually apply, be accepted, or attend a university with his support. This scholarship opportunity is a gracious gift because someone who did not know the future recipients left a significant gift to help those who receive it to fully pursue an education at a Mississippi institution.

If you were to be granted this scholarship to help you attend Mississippi State, pursue a degree, and graduate in a timely manner, how would you plan to continue to give to others during you time at Mississippi State University and as an engaged citizen after graduation?

“Those who are happiest are those who do the most for others.” – Booker T. Washington

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” – Mahatma Gandhi

“Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day.” – Sally Koch

“He who serves the most, reaps the most.” – Jim Rohn

“Selfless giving is the art of living.” – Frederic Lenz

“Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.”: – Albert Einstein
    • We ask that you reflect on a challenge you have faced that has impacted your forward movement for your future academic and professional goals. Share how the challenge impacted you and/or what the challenge taught you; share how it influenced decisions you are making for pursing a college degree in your chosen field of study; and be mindful of sharing characteristics you have developed during the challenge and your movement forward.
  2. To provide a clearer picture of your application for the interview committee, you are asked to request two references of support. The references of support are to be from two people who can speak to your qualities as a servant-leader. You are responsible for asking each of your selected individuals if they can complete the following: speak highly of your academics, follow-through, involvement in the classroom, and other areas of personal development, and provide detailed information about your character in servant-leadership and citizenship positions. While there will be an option for each of your references to upload an additional letter, a letter is not required. Please enter the name and email addresses for each of your references with whom you have taken a class or worked with. An email will be sent with a link to the reference questionnaire for your reference to complete. As with all recommendations, first ask the person if they would be a reference for you, give them details about the Luckyday Scholars Program, and tell them why you are interested in applying. It is your responsibility to follow up with the reference to make sure they have submitted their information by the deadline of December 15th at 5:00 pm.
