John and Jennifer Rush funded the Maxwell V. Rush, Jr. Scholarship in memory of John’s father.

Maxwell V. Rush, Jr. was a native of Greene County and a 1948 graduate of Leakesville High School. He enrolled at the Mississippi State College in 1948 and lived in the Old Main Dormitory. He later earned his degree from Southern Mississippi and married fellow Southern Mississippi alumnae Kathleen Loflin. Max and Kit Rush funded the opportunity for their sons to earn degrees at Mississippi State University.
