Friends of the Formby family established the Ella Formby Memorial Scholarship to honor Ella’s life and memory. Their hope is for the message of Ella’s life to offer insight and call attention to one of the nation’s most widespread problems-drinking and driving.
Ella was five years old when she died of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in 2013 caused by drinking and driving. Ella was a kindergartener at Sumrall Elementary School and was described as an energetic, loving little girl, who was full of life.
The Ella Formby Memorial Scholarship is awarded to graduates of Picayune High School students. This scholarship not only pays tribute to Ella’s life, but also allows her to influence many generations of college students.
