Dean Robert T. Clapp Forestry Endowed Scholarship (Roger C. Clapp, Sr.)
Roger C. Clapp, Sr. of Florence, MS, decided to honor his father and his accomplishments while at MSU with a scholarship. Robert Temple Clapp attended Pomona College and then graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in English. He then went on to receive his Master’s degree from Yale University in Forestry. During WWII, he served as a communications officer on the USS Tripoli. He then joined the Mississippi State College Forestry Department in 1946 as an instructor. Later, he became the Department Head and then the first Dean of the College of Forest Resources. He retired as Dean Emeritus in 1973.
