Charles and Katherine Brown
Charlie and Kathy are long-time residents of Hattiesburg, MS. Charlie graduated in 1960 with a degree in mechanical engineering and Kathy took some classes at MSU, but attended and graduated from Mississippi State College for Women. Now retired, Charlie worked in the concrete pipe industry for 32 years. During this time he was elected and served as President of the Mississippi Professional Engineering Society in 1977 and was awarded Engineer of the Year in 1984. Kathy served as Director of a large church preschool then retired from a second career as a buyer for a local gift shop. The couple met when Charlie was visiting the campus of MSCW and they married in 1960. They have two daughters, three granddaughters, and one great-granddaughter.
During those working years, Charlie also had the distinct honor of serving as the National Alumni President from 1979-1980. In addition he served as Director of the Bulldog Club when it was first established. They continue their involvement in MSU by using their financial resources to help MSU students by investing in their future. He and Kathy are honored to be helping an engineering student with this scholarship as well as supporting the various MSU athletics programs.
